Not every organization needs another full-time executive. Sometimes, what's missing is experienced leadership between the C-suite and the marketing team.

Frequently Asked Questions

A few things you might want to know before we get to work.

Getting to Know Nopal Social Lab

Who is Nopal Social Lab best suited to work with?
Nopal works with senior marketing leaders who need clarity, strategic direction, and creative leadership to move their organization forward. We’re especially well suited to leaders navigating a new role, organizational change, competing priorities, limited resources, or teams that need a stronger connection between strategy and execution.

How does the Social Lab work?
Our Social Lab is a curated network of award-winning creative experts who, like us, value the independence of running their own businesses. This model keeps our overhead low and gives clients access to specialized talent, from web developers and designers to videographers and photographers, without the added costs and layers of a traditional agency. We bring in the right people for the work, while Nopal remains hands-on to ensure everything stays connected to your strategy.

Can Nopal work alongside our existing marketing team or agency?
Absolutely. Nopal is designed to strengthen your existing team and resources, not automatically replace them. We can collaborate with internal marketing teams, leadership, and established agency partners to help clarify direction, align priorities, and ensure strategic and creative work moves forward cohesively. Depending on the partnership level, we can also bring in specialized Social Lab Partners when additional expertise is needed.

Do I need to know exactly what I need before contacting you?
No. You don’t need to arrive with a defined scope or a list of deliverables. Our complimentary Clarity Consultation is designed to help you understand what you’re navigating, identify initial areas of focus, and determine the right next step.

Getting Started

What happens during the complimentary Clarity Consultation?
The Clarity Consultation is a 45-minute working conversation informed by our Clarity Valuation™, a brief diagnostic completed before the call. Together, we explore your current challenges, priorities, and organizational context. You’ll leave with an initial perspective on what deserves attention and a recommendation for how to move forward.

What is the difference between the free consultation and Find Clarity?
The consultation helps us identify initial signals and determine whether a deeper engagement is appropriate. Phase One is a paid strategic discovery process that includes stakeholder conversations, current-state analysis, and executive synthesis. It produces an Executive Clarity Readout, Clarity Map™, and 90-Day Clarity Agenda to help you understand your current reality and make more informed decisions.

Do I have to complete all three stages of The Clarity Method™?
No. The Clarity Method™ provides a structured approach, but the right engagement depends on your needs. Most new strategic relationships begin with Phase One so we can establish a shared understanding of the problem. If you already have a clear strategy or a well-defined creative need, we may recommend entering at a later phase or establishing an ongoing partnership.

Is my Find Clarity investment applied toward Set Direction?
Yes. If you choose to continue into Phase Two, your $6,500 Phase One investment is credited toward the $18,500 Phase Two engagement, leaving a remaining investment of $12,000.

Phase One is also valuable as a standalone engagement. You’ll receive the Executive Clarity Readout, Clarity Map™, and 90-Day Clarity Agenda whether or not you continue.

Phase Three is scoped separately based on the creative work required. The Phase One credit is applied once and does not carry forward to Phase Three.

Understanding the Engagement

What will I receive from The Clarity Method™?
Each phase is designed to produce a meaningful outcome. Phase One provides an Executive Clarity Readout, Clarity Map™, and 90-Day Clarity Agenda. Phase Two develops a Strategic Direction Blueprint, Ownership + Decision Framework, and Strategic Roadmap. Phase Three brings strategy to life through a Campaign Big Idea + Concept, Campaign Messaging House, Campaign Mockups, and Creative Handoff + Working Files.

Final deliverables are confirmed in the agreed scope of work.

How long does a typical engagement take?
Phase One typically takes approximately three to four weeks, while Phase Two generally takes six to eight weeks. Phase Three timelines vary depending on the complexity of the campaign, brand work, or creative development. We establish a clear timeline and milestones before each engagement begins.

Can Nopal help us with creative work if we already have a strategy?
Yes. If your strategic direction is already established, we can build on that foundation rather than repeat work unnecessarily. We may begin with a focused review to understand the existing strategy, then develop the campaign, messaging, brand, or creative work needed to bring it to life.

How is an ongoing retainer different from a Clarity Method™ engagement?
A Clarity Method engagement is designed around a defined strategic outcome and scope. An ongoing retainer reserves monthly capacity for continued access to Nopal’s strategic and creative leadership. It allows us to help you navigate changing priorities, maintain clarity, and move active initiatives forward over time.

Does Nopal offer fractional CMO or Chief Brand Officer services?
Yes. Through our Embedded Partner engagement, Nopal can provide fractional marketing or brand leadership for organizations that need senior-level direction without adding a full-time executive. We work alongside executive leadership and existing marketing teams to translate business priorities into strategy, guide decisions, and develop internal leadership capabilities. Responsibilities and decision-making authority are defined together based on the organization’s needs.

What is included in Nopal’s monthly retainers?
Each retainer provides dedicated monthly hours for strategic planning, problem-solving, creative development, and hands-on collaboration with your team. You’ll also have scheduled strategy sessions, weekly check-ins, and a dedicated Asana board to manage priorities, projects, and progress. The level of involvement, creative support, and available capacity varies by partnership.

Working Together

What happens when our CEO, board, or leadership team changes direction?
Changing priorities are a normal part of business. When a significant shift occurs, we return to the strategic agenda together to understand what has changed, what remains important, and what should be reprioritized. This helps ensure new requests are connected to the broader direction rather than simply adding more activity to the team’s workload.

Special Pricing

Do you offer nonprofit pricing?
Yes. We offer preferred pricing for eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Rates are tailored to the organization’s needs, available resources, and scope of work, allowing us to make strategic support more accessible without compromising the quality of our work.

Do you work with small businesses?
Absolutely. We offer tailored engagements for smaller businesses operating with limited resources, typically organizations with 10 or fewer employees or a marketing team of one. We adjust the scope and level of support to focus on what will make the greatest impact, without requiring a larger engagement than your business needs.
